George Roger Waters was born in Great Bookham (Surrey, England) in 1943 and is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. He’s best known as one of the founding members of progressive rock band Pink Floyd. He’s also had a stellar solo career with 3 studio albums, 3 live albums, 1 compilation album, 1 opera album, 2 video albums, 1 box set, and 14 singles. His 1990 live album (The Wall – Live in Berlin) was a top 10 hit in Austria, Germany, New Zealand, and has been certified double Platinum in Canada. He worked on the soundtracks of the 1986 British animated disaster film When the Wind Blows and the 1970 documentary film The Body. His 2005 opera album (Ça Ira) hit #12 on the Polish music charts and has achieved Platinum status in Poland. He’s collaborated with Ennio Morricone (renowned Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor, and former trumpet player) as well as English singer, songwriter and actress, Marianne Faithfull. His work has also featured on the compilation albums Live Earth: The Concerts For A Climate In Crisis, Love for Levon: Benefit To Save The Barn, and 12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief.
