Dead and Company, the sensational rock band of former Grateful Dead members is bringing its signature sounds to Capital One Arena!
Grateful Dead was a rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California. The band is renowned for a unique and eclectic style that fused elements of country, folk, bluegrass, blues, reggae, rock, improvisational jazz, psychedelia, and space rock. The band split up in 1995 and since then there have been a number of reunions by the surviving members. Dead and Company consists of Bob Weir (guitar), Mickey Hart (drums), Bill Kreutzmann (drums), John Mayer (vocals, guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass), and Jeff Chimenti (keyboards). In 2011 John began listening to the Grateful Dead and became a huge fan of their music. Four years later (while he was guest hosting the The Late Late Show) he invited Bob to join him in a studio performance. They became good friends and while Bob and the other three surviving core members of the Grateful Dead were preparing for their 50th anniversary tour, John began practicing the band's large catalog of songs. In August 2015, John and original Grateful Dead members Bob, Mickey, and Bill formed the band, along with keyboardist Jeff and bassist Oteil. In September they played their first concert at Madison Square Garden in New York and followed it up with a tour that was very well received.
